“INTELLIGENCE” Two Wire Remote I/O System is a field- and installation-bus that offers unique solutions for a wide range of applications in building automation, energy management, annunciator, securities and many other areas in order to reduce installation cost, "home run" wiring, and potential noise interference.

The system is capable of transmitting multiple digital and analog signals up to 1.2 km, via 1 pair of twisted pair with shielded cable. And its modular design and simple operating principle enable even novices to implement its use in new or existing applications. Solutions are engineered by combining products from the wide range of “INTELLIGENCE” Two Wire Remote I/O modules, including digital and analog I/O.

All modules in an installation connect to the same 2-wire cable which is used to exchange data between modules and between a central controller and modules. It is typically used as a remote I/O system, creating a link between field devices, such as sensors, contactors, valves, pushbuttons and a central Monitoring panel such as; graphic annunciator or analog display panel.

Communication is via two-wire, EIA RS-485, half-duplex asynchronous serial communications using ASCII-based command/ response protocol. The two-wire connection keeps the number of cables and connectors to a minimum and simplifies installation and overall cost. Optical isolation at each I/O prevents ground loop and surge problems can be used as an autonomous unit or as many as 32 pods may be connected on a single two-wire, multi-drop RS-485 network at cable distances up to 4,000 feet. Each I/O Module is assigned a unique address and communication uses a master/slave protocol.
